Although not a new technology (the first date on CMS ’s 1995), content management begins to be taken very seriously by companies. Especially companies that already have begun its journey some time in the network realizing the importance of verifying the contents of their websites (the core of your business) currently held by their service providers.
CMS: What is it?
The acronym CMS (Content Management System) includes the content management applications. These interfaces connected to different databases that let you manage content on a website.
The site design is separated from the content which is dynamic. Some CMS’s allow design changes and other objects contained in therein. The pages are generated using templates or a completely dynamic by users without writing a single line of code.
In the market we can find many applications that let you perform this task, from business applications to open source tools. Some highly specialized such as the case of systems like WordPress Blog.
Joomla, Mambo, PHP Nuke, Nuke ASP, the previously appointed WordPress, Drupal, Typo 3 (all open source tools), Skipper NET, EBD, Nds, Site Refresh, Vignette or Tridion R5 (business applications) are among the many tools available on the market.
Beyond the technology or architecture that supports our website we must ensure the continuity and evolution of the tool of choice and above all the partner who will develop the project and perform the accompaniment of the same in terms of knowledge of the medium ( internet) as updating and support on the technology in place. We must therefore ask long-term relationships with that partner.

Open source vs. commercial applications
OPENSLas open source application development communities have continuously new functionalities that program so these systems tend to have many ready to use modularity. Also the possibility of having free software for web servers so as to make himself a priori CMS may arise implantation.
However most of these solutions are designed for technical staff as it is not easy to mount the necessary infrastructure for Web servers, install the CMS software, etc.. Likewise, any additional development (common in any project) must be contracted with a company specialized on this platform and this is no longer open source and free.
By contrast commercial applications tend to be more customizable (adaptation of the corporate design) and often have much more service behind the open source applications even with much smaller communities. This allows companies to a very rapid development of its projects and possibilities for adaptation of the much larger for control of the developers on their own tools
Are CMS informatics a threat to the departments of technology companies?
Being able to allocate non-technical staff to manage (even advanced) of the contents by the departments that actually make changes to the website of a company (marketing, HR, sales, etc.) means that many IT managers see some of his powers under threat. If this happens, a council, its director of systems NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION to the problem but part of the same problem.
No company in their right mind (unless your business is completely focused on the network) should consider the possibility to develop and evolve a website. Not part of the core of their business and just simply brings high costs and headaches.
