Millions of people perform these bad behaviors everyday
Falling asleep or having a stiff drink is not alright at the workplace? Everyday millions of people do these disastrous acts at the workplace- and even worse. Instead all the workplace taboos are not equal, in terms of its graveness or consequences, “some off-limits can be compensated while others result in instant firing”, says Bruce Hurwitz, executive recruiter and career counselor.
Some top workplace taboos that were admitted by workers of U.S.
1. Having a nap at workplace
Slumbering looks very unprofessional and most hated by employers. If you are napping around habitually, it means you need a more appealing career that makes you active. Find your perfect job by taking a free career test.
2. Bussing with a coworker
It’s not a great surprise for people who work in an office. A Valentine’s Day survey in which more than 8000 workers took part reports,40percent have been dating with coworkers and the same number have kissed a coworker as well.
3. Pilfering from the office
Many workers pinch office supplies home. Knowingly, mostly stationery is pilfered home with no notice. Harris survey reveals that about one-fifth of workers rob office supplies, while an OfficeMax Workplace Uncovered survey points out the truth of pilferage: 56percent of workers admit on robbing office supplies.
4. Being appreciated for someone else’s toil
Stealing a colleague’s idea and submitting as your own is the worse thing. It’s really easy to speak out if you are a victim but it hurts if you are a culprit. Keeping your superior informed of your idea is a defensive ailment to follow.
5. Gossiping about a coworker
Spreading rumor about a coworker is not only harmful to the subject but also to the rumor-monger. It harms your personality and can even lead to a lawsuit, wasting away your time and money. Rumors could be of any form; verbal, written, or on the internet.
6. Overwhelming intoxicants while on the job
Keeping an alcoholic bottle in your desk was a trend in some professions. But now companies have ‘no intoxicants at work’ policy.
Many don’t follow legal channels. Make sure to log off your computer when you aren’t working, alter passwords and clear the desk when you’ve done to avoid interfering.
8. Fake academic qualification
This happens most often, and eventually you get caught. Better earn a real degree than lying on your resume. Instead create impressive resume that would highlight you.
