A person has asked the question about the top 10 jobs for 2016 and beyond. Statistics for Seattle from this same time period are available but not online. The projections for these are already two years out of date. They are updated every two years by the Federal government. Sometimes different statistics will come up and sometimes other projections will apply to the rule. Current statistics on Bureau of Labor Statistics go through 2018, while other states will go past that particular mark. Healthcare projections for jobs are already set for up to 2020.
Taking a look at these projections might look like it is Greek to you. They are not always straightforward. You can find top 50, top 100 or jobs ranked from 1 – 1000. One of the problems when looking at these, is that they come in alphabetical form only sometimes with the increases in percentage for the jobs listed. You cannot reorder them though. Using an Excel sheet can work sometimes. Some of these projections can go under both Job Titles and Job Clusters. Going to the Department of Labor is your best bet. Get the Occupational Handbook and read it.
Sometimes these projections do match. Other times they do not match. There are so many different things that can happen to change the projections such as new jobs, old jobs lost, jobs becoming obsolete and others. Along with this, the projections will change every two years like clockwork and this can make all the other predictions obsolete to say the very least. Overlays can happen in projections for different job fields. However, sometimes a drastic change will toss all the projections right back to the drawing board. These can range from natural disasters to explosion of jobs, financial failure or other means.
