When we have to make changes to our blog, tweak the theme, and all these things, it is very annoying having to walk up to the server things all the time, this is a waste of time.
A good solution to this is to install WordPress locally on our team, so we need some things, which are the servers that are commonly hired:
To install this in Windows is a package called XAMPP, which leaves almost like running a PC server, which installs the latest version is:
* Apache 2.2.3
* MySQL 5.0.27
* PHP 5.2.0 & PHP 4.4.4
* PhpMyAdmin 220.127.116.11
* FileZilla FTP Server 0.9.20
* OpenSSL 0.9.8d
Step 1 :
Download XAMPP – software which works under Windows and it consists of apache server, php and mysql
Install Xampp video tutorial :
WordPress you should unzipp at folder xampplite\htdocs. Give wordpress directory name : wordpressdirectory for example.
Step 2 :
What we have to do is download XAMPP (33MB), installed it, and once we have direct access to the panel on the desktop XAMPP execute it, we will open a window like this on picture.
Xampp is turn on if you see Apache and MySql RUNNING. Each time you restart windows you must open xampp control and run this 2 things.
Now we are prepeare to install WordPress. Now we should go to page : http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ .
You can just install database at phpmyadmin – for example – wordpress. For example you WordPress directory in Xampp will be wordpressdirectory.
Step 3 : Install WordPress (read article – How to install wordpress at shared hosting using Cpanel )
Most important thing for WordPress under Windows is to prepeare config file at wordpress :
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’); // The name of the database that we created in last step.
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘root’); // Always root
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ”); // No password – you will create later
define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); //
Step 4 :
Go to http://localhost/wordpressdirectory/install.php
