Getting your blog linked to other blogs will increase you traffic and subsequently your ranking so it is overly important to know how to get your posts linked by other bloggers. The following are some few tips on asking other bloggers to link you site.
Write something worth reading
The best thing to do when sending a request for a link is to write something useful to read. Write content which the reader, in this case it’s a blogger, would like to be associated with. If your content is interesting enough, then the blogger will happily link it. This may sound simple enough but still bloggers send requests for links for useless content. It is no wonder that these requests find themselves in the trash folder.
Request for a link to a post and not your site
Suggest that they check out a link to an individual page and not an entire site. A blogger is more likely to link to a specific story that relates to their niche than a whole site.
Build a relationship
First get to know the blogger and his content, comment where necessary before you can eventually as for a link. Do not ask for favors from a blogger you have never interacted with.
Show that you know the blogger
When sending the request, call the blogger by name to demonstrate that you know him. Show that you know what their blog is all about. Remind the blogger who you are and what you do. Use a polite and familiar tone in your request.
Find out what the blogger has been writing in the recent months, whether he has linked to other posts, sites and forums and find out what the forums were all about. Find out whether they tweet of Facebook in order to create a pitch when sending your request for the link.
Highlight to the blogger what your post might add to his blog and how the link will help your blog. No blogger will refuse to make a link with a post that will benefit his readership.
Once the blogger has linked your post you should at least reciprocate by commenting on the bloggers posts and writing guest posts. You can also promote them to your own network. All these will create a strong relationship between the bloggers and will benefit both in the long run. It is wise to build on the experience, if for example your request was rejected, try to correct you mistakes and make other request.
