SEO for moderately competitive terms cannot be done on a limited budget of $1,500 – $3,000. In your example there are over 36 million competing sites for this term alone and this certainly qualifies as “very competitive.”

Real, long term and lasting SEO results can only be done by doing all of the “blocking and tackling” of Internet Marketing. You must do extensive keyword research because SEO is not about optimizing for just one keyword. Over 60% of searches involves 4 or more keywords nowadays which is a testament to the evolution of searchers recognizing that the more specific the search, the more targeted the search result.

Having some experience in this particular industry, I can assure you that there are thousands of keywords that will need to be researched. After this besides all of the onsite SEO that everyone else always seems to talk about (metadata, sitemaps, titles et al), the real work involves the weekly generation of content (articles, blogs, video, podcasts, press releases, etc.) to generate the necessary indexing activity and to provide the fuel for syndication throughout the web to generate high quality backlinks.

For the most competitive terms this can take months or even years to achieve Google Page 1. So what do you do in the meantime? This is why you did the keyword research so that you can target the best terms of opportunity as you work your way up the SERPS for the most competitive terms.

I only offer this to give you some picture, some guidance as to the nature of the beast that is online marketing. Its hard work that requires major commitments financially and procedurally.

I know this is probably not what you hoped to hear but I can assure you that you got the straight scoop.
